Aegate appoints Sir David Cooksey as new Board Chairman

8th February 2011 -
Aegate is delighted to announce the appointment of Sir David
Cooksey as Chairman of its Board.
Aegate are a European pharmaceutical authentication company, which
applies security technology to enable pharmacists to confirm in
real time that medicines are genuine and not recalled before
dispensing to patients.
Commenting on his appointment Sir David said "Aegate is addressing a significant economic and patient safety issue. Their approach has recently been underpinned by new European legislation which will include a requirement for pharmacists to verify authenticity. This is an important moment in the company's evolution and I am delighted to be joining the Board at this time."
Aegate's system continues to irrefutably demonstrate that it protects patients. Last year alone the system identified more than 55,000 pack related issues, mostly relating to recalled or expired products. Aegate also recently achieved ISO 27001 certification for its information security management system providing a robustness for the 28 million individual medicinal packs they are currently checking each month across Europe. Installation of pharmacy systems are continuing; one quarter of Europe's pharmacies currently have Aegate's software available to them.
In conclusion, Gary Noon, CEO Aegate commented. "The
commercial and legislative environment in which Aegate operates is
highly complex, which Sir David understands well. It also requires
specialist experience and therefore we are extremely pleased that
Sir David has accepted this appointment.
